LEIGH LISBÃO UNDERWOOD
Leigh is a Brazilian-American cinematographer based in Berlin and Los Angeles.
He earned his master’s degree at UCLA - home of Francis Ford Coppola - and got his start shooting American TV movies and independent short and feature films, earning some awards along the way.
From a New Jersey childhood filled with backyard adventures, home movie making and lots of tree hugging, Leigh has grown into a filmmaker with an eye for human emotion and the beauty of nature. He paints stories using light and texture, from the high energy of sports to the still subtlety of character drama. Whether the canvas is celluloid film or high-end digital, he looks for a unique touch - a special lens, a shot of color, or a glow of light - to breathe life into moving pictures.
Following a hunch, he made a leap to Europe and commercials, and found a new home in Berlin. He now splits his time between Europe, New York and California, and teaches cinematography back at UCLA when shooting allows.
